Shea Butter
Unrefined Shea butter is an important natural resource for the African Savanna nations.
Until recently, Europeans have controlled all exported shea butter by
purchasing the Shea kernels and chemically extracting the oil using Hexane.
This refined Shea butter loses some of the benificial properties of Shea butter
that is extracted naturally.
Unrefined Shea butter supplied by Hands of Peace is a Fair Trade product from the Karite tree
grown in Northern Ghana, often known as Karite butter. Shea butter is emollient, i.e. it is helpful
for dry/cracked, aged or damaged skin. Its chemical constituents help to heal brusing and soreness. Shea butter contains the
vitamins A, E and F. Moisturises skin and helps protect from damage by solar ultraviolet rays.
Use Shea butter to revitalise dry or brittle hair, protect from damage by the sun, hair dryers, perms and dye.
Apply before swimming to protect your hair from chlorine or sea salt.
